ต้นน้ำเกิดจากการรวมกันของแม่น้ำหนุมานและแม่น้ำปรง
ที่จังหวัดปราจีนบุรี      จะมีชื่อเรียกต่าง ๆ  กันดังนี้

-         บริเวณที่ไหลออกสู่อ่าวไทยที่อำเภอบางปะกงกับอำเภอเมืองจังหวัดชลบุรีแม่น้ำบางปะกงมีความยาวประมาณ    230    กิโลเมตร
