อุทยานแห่งชาติดอยสุเทพ-ปุย มีพื้นที่ประมาณ 262.50 ตารางกิโลเมตร หรือ 163,162.50 ไร่ครอบคลุมท้องที่อำเภอแม่ริม อำเภอหางดง และอำเภอเมือง ประกอบด้วยป่าที่อุดมสมบูรณ์ ภูเขาที่สูงสลับซับซ้อน ดอยที่สำคัญได้แก่ ดอยสุเทพ ดอยบวกห้า และดอยปุย เป็นแหล่งกำเนิดของต้นน้ำลำธาร ทั้งมีสถานที่ศักดิ์สิทธิ์และสำคัญทางศาสนา และทางประวัติศาสตร์

สถานที่น่าสนใจในอุทยานฯ



น้ำตกห้วยแก้ว เป็นน้ำตกเล็กๆ สูงประมาณ 10 เมตร อยู่ห่างจากตัวเมืองเชียงใหม่ประมาณ 6 กิโลเมตร มีน้ำไหลตลอดปี รอบๆ บริเวณสวยงามด้วยทิวทัศน์และร่มรื่นด้วยพันธุ์ไม้นานาชนิด นอกจากนี้ยังมีที่พักผ่อนนำอาหารไปนั่งรับประทานกันที่ผาเงิบและวังบัวบานอันเป็นสุสานแห่งความรักของสาวบัวบานผู้ถือรักเป็นสรณะ



พระตำหนักภูพิงค์ราชนิเวศน์ จากวัดพระธาตุดอยสุเทพไปยังพระตำหนักฯ ระยะทางประมาณ 4 กิโลเมตร เป็นพระตำหนักประทับแปรพระราชฐานของพระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัว และสมเด็จพระนางเจ้าฯ พระบรมราชินีนาถ สร้างเสร็จเมื่อปี พ.ศ. 2505 ตั้งอยู่บนดอยบวกห้า สามารถเดินชมโดยรอบตำหนักและบริเวณซึ่งมีแปลงกุหลาบ สวนเฟิร์น และไม้นานาพรรณ โดยปกติแล้วจะเปิดให้ประชาชนเข้าชมเฉพาะวันศุกร์-อาทิตย์ และวันหยุดราชการ ทั้งนี้จะต้องเป็นช่วงเวลาที่พระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัวฯ มิได้เสด็จแปรพระราชฐานไปประทับ ซึ่งปกติจะปิดในช่วงเวลาตั้งแต่ประมาณกลางเดือนธันวาคม-ต้นเดือนกุมภาพันธ์ แต่ทั้งนี้นักท่องเที่ยวสามารถสอบถามจากสำนักงาน ททท.ภาคเหนือเขต 1 (สำนักงานเชียงใหม่) ค่าเข้าชม คนละ 20 บาท ต่างชาติ 50 บาท
