เมื่อเทคโนโลยีมีความก้าวไกลทันสมัยมากข้นจึงทำให้มนุษย์สามารถติดต่อสื่อสารกันได้ในทุกๆวันโดยผ่านตัวกลางที่มีชื่อว่า “Social Network” หรือเรียกอีกอย่างหนึ่งว่า เครือข่ายสังคมออนไลน์ ซึ่งหมายถึงกลุ่มบุคคลผู้ติดต่อสื่อสารกัน โดยผ่านสื่อสังคม ซึ่งนอกจากจะส่งข่าวสารข้อมูลแลกเปลี่ยนกันแล้วยังอาจจะร่วมกันทำกิจกรรมที่สนใจด้วยกัน (ราชบัณฑิตยสถาน,2554) การสร้างชุมชนใหม่บนอินเทอร์เน็ตเป็นเครื่องมือสำคัญในการติดต่อสื่อสาร สามารถทำกิจกรรมต่างๆ ทั้งเพื่อการศึกษา ธุรกิจ และความบันเทิง สามารถติดต่อสื่อสารกันได้ทั่วทุกมุมโลกอย่างรวดเร็ว และเป็นช่องทางการสื่อสารผ่านสื่อใหม่ที่เป็นที่นิยมมากจนกลายเป็นวัฒนธรรมส่วนหนึ่งของผู้ใช้อินเทอร์เน็ต

พฤติกรรมการใช้ social network ของนักศึกษามหาวิทยาลัยราชภัฏบุรีรัมย์ มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาพฤติกรรมการใช้ Social network ของนักศึกษามหาวิทยาลัยราชภัฏบุรีรัมย์ ได้ทำการแจกแบบสอบถาม จำนวน 100 ชุด และได้นำมาวิเคราะห์โดยใช้สถิติเชิงคุณภาพ ผลการศึกษาจากแบบสอบถามพบว่า นักศึกษาส่วนใหญ่ใช่เวลาอยู่กับ social network มาก และส่วนใหญ่จะเป็นนักศึกษาชายที่ใช้อินเทอร์เน็ตมาก และอายุระหว่าง 20-21 ปี มีค่าใช้จ่ายในส่วนที่ไม่ค่อยจำเป็นและพบปัญหาสุขภาพคือปวดตาและปวดข้อมือ
