ความเป็นมาของโครงการ :

โครงการห้วยองคตอันเนื่องมาจากพระราชดำริ อำเภอหนองปรือ จังหวัดกาญจนบุรี ก่อตั้งขึ้นตามแนวพระราชดำริของพระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัว เมื่อวันที่ 28 มกราคม 2533 โดยมีพระราชกระแสรับสั่งกับ นายสุเมธ ตันติเวชกุล เลขาธิการกปร. และเลขาธิการมูลนิธิชัยพัฒนา อธิบดีกรมชลประทาน พร้อมคณะเจ้าหน้าที่ว่า ได้ทราบว่าพระราชญาณรังสี (พระอาจารย์จันทร์ คเวสโก) ได้ไปดำเนินการพัฒนาพื้นที่บริเวณตำบลหนองปรือ อำเภอบ่อพลอย จังหวัดกาญจนบุรี ซึ่งจะก่อให้เกิดประโยชน์แก่ประชาชนเป็นอย่างดี จึงให้เลขาธิการมูลนิธิชัยพัฒนาไปนมัสการ พระอาจารย์จันทร์ คเวสโก เพื่อช่วยประสานและสนับสนุนการดำเนินงานในโครงการดังกล่าวนี้ ซึ่งต่อมาได้พระราชทานพระราชดำริให้ดำเนินการจัดหาที่ดินจำนวนหนึ่ง เพื่อนำมาวางแผนและจัดทำโครงการ เพื่อพัฒนาและช่วยเหลือประชาชนในบริเวณพื้นที่ดังกล่าว และพระราชทานชื่อว่า “โครงการห้วยองคตอันเนื่องมาจากพระราชดำริ” อีกทั้งได้พระราชทานทรัพย์ส่วนพระองค์ และเงินจากมูลนิธิชัยพัฒนาเข้าร่วมสนับสนุนโครงการ โดยมี พระอาจารย์ญาณรังสี (พระอาจารย์จันทร์ คเวสโก) วัดป่าชัยรังสี อำเภอเมือง จังหวัดสมุทรสาคร พระราชมงคลญาณ วัดปากน้ำ พระภาวนาวิสุทธาจารย์ วัดไตรมิตรวิทยาราม กรุงเทพมหานคร เป็นผู้ร่วมสนับสนุนและประสานการดำเนินงานต่างๆ อันเป็นแนวทางพัฒนาตามแนวพระราชดำริ ที่ให้ฝ่ายต่างๆประสานการทำงานร่วมกันทั้งภาคราชการ ราษฎรและศาสนา
