Singular Nouns คือ คำนามที่มีรูปเป็นเอกพจน์ มีเพียงคนเดียว สิ่งเดียว อันเดียว ชิ้นเดียว
และต้องมี Articles "a" หรือ "an" ประกอบข้างหน้าเสมอ โดยมีวิธีใช้ดังนี้

1. " A" ใช้นำหน้าคำนามที่ขึ้นต้นด้วยเสียงพยัญชนะเช่น a purse, a table, a house, a train,

2. " A" ใช้นำหน้าคำนามที่ขึ้นต้นด้วยสระ แต่ออกเสียงเป็นเสียงพยัญชนะเช่น a University,
a European, a useful book

3. " AN " ใช้นำหน้าคำนามที่ขึ้นต้นด้วยเสียงสระเช่น an apple, an uncle, an orange,
an umbrella, an aunt

4. " AN "ใช้นำหน้าคำนามที่ขึ้นด้วยพยัญชนะ แต่ออกเสียงเป็นเสียงสระ เช่น an hour,
an honest man (คนซื่อสัตย์)
