การวิจัยครั้งนี้เป็นการวิจัยกึ่งทดลองมีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาผลของโปรแกรมการสร้างเสริมสุขภาพ ต่อความรู้และพฤติกรรมสุขภาพของผู้สูงอายุโรคข้อเข่าเสื่อม กลุ่มตัวอย่างเป็นผู้สูงอายุที่ได้รับการวินิจฉัยว่าเป็นโรคข้อเข่าเสื่อม จำนวน 60 คน แบ่งเป็นกลุ่มทดลองและกลุ่มควบคุม กลุ่มละ 30 คน โดยกลุ่มควบคุมได้รับการดูแลด้านสุขภาพตามปกติ กลุ่มทดลองได้รับโปรแกรมการสร้างเสริมสุขภาพที่สร้างขึ้นโดยผู้วิจัยตามแนวคิดการสร้างเสริมสุขภาพของเพนเดอร์ ประกอบด้วย 6 ขั้นตอน ได้แก่ 1) การสร้างสัมพันธภาพ 2)การรับรู้ประโยชน์ของการปฏิบัติ3)การรับรู้อุปสรรค4)การรับรู้ความสามารถแห่งตน 5)ความรู้สึกที่มีต่อพฤติกรรม 6)อิทธิพลระหว่างบุคคล เครื่องมือที่ใช้ คือ แบบสอบถามประกอบด้วย 3 ส่วน คือ ข้อมูลทั่วไป แบบสอบถามความรู้เรื่องโรคข้อเข่าเสื่อมของผู้สูงอายุ และแบบสอบถามพฤติกรรมสร้างเสริมสุขภาพของผู้สูงอายุโรคข้อเข่าเสื่อม มีความเชื่อมั่นสัมประสิทธิ์แอลฟาของครอนบาค เท่ากับ 0.84, 0.78 และ 0.96 ตามลำดับ วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลโดยใช้โปรแกรมสำเร็จรูปหาค่าร้อยละ ค่าเฉลี่ย ค่าเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน และ Independent t-test และpaired t-test
