ทุกคนเกิดมาแล้วล้วนแต่อยากจะประสบความสำเร็จกันทั้งสิ้น ไม่มีใครหรอกครับ ที่ไม่อยากประสบความสำเร็จ มีใครบ้างที่อยากยากจน อยากไม่มีงานทำ หรืออยากอยู่ในสถานภาพเดิมๆ ไปตลอดชีวิต ผมเชื่อว่าไม่มี แต่ทำไมคนแต่ละคนจึงประสบความสำเร็จไม่เท่ากัน บางคนสถานภาพทางสังคมไม่แตกต่างกัน ฐานะไม่แตกต่างกัน อีกทั้งยังเรียนหนังสือมาเหมือนๆ กัน แต่สุดท้าย คนสองคนนี้กลับประสบความสำเร็จในการทำงานที่แตกต่างกันอย่างสิ้นเชิง ทำไม?

นึกขึ้นมาได้ว่า เคยอ่านหนังสือที่ชื่อ The 8th Habit ของ Stephen R. Covey ได้เขียนเอาไว้อย่างชัดเจนถึงองค์ประกอบของคนที่จะประสบความสำเร็จในชีวิตได้นั้นจะต้องมีองค์ประกอบอยู่ 3 อย่าง ดังต่อไปนี้ครับ
Vision วิสัยทัศน์ คนที่จะประสบความสำเร็จได้นั้นจะต้องมีเป้าหมายของชีวิต มีการมองภาพในอนาคตของตนเองได้อย่างชัดเจนว่า ตนจะต้องไปเป็นอะไร ทำอะไร หรือประสบความสำเร็จในชีวิตอย่างไร องค์ประกอบนี้ถือเป็นสิ่งแรกที่ขาดไม่ได้เลยสำหรับคนที่อยากจะประสบความสำเร็จ เพราะถ้าเรายังไม่รู้ หรือมองไม่เห็นว่าเราอยากเป็นอะไร หรืออยากจะประสบความสำเร็จอย่างไร เราก็คงไม่รู้วิธีการไปถึงความสำเร็จนั้นได้เลย เป็นไปได้ว่าคนบางคนที่ไม่ประสบความสำเร็จในชีวิตสักที อาจจะเกิดจากการที่เขายังไม่รู้ว่าตนเองต้องการอะไร และอยากที่จะประสบความสำเร็จในเรื่องอะไร บางคนก็ลอยไปลอยมา แต่ใจคิดอยากรวย อยากประสบความสำเร็จ แต่กลับไม่ตัดสินใจว่าตนเองชอบ หรือ รักงานอะไร สุดท้ายก็ได้แต่คิดอย่างเดียวเท่านั้น
Discipline วินัย องค์ประกอบที่ 2 ของคนที่จะประสบความสำเร็จในชีวิตได้ ก็คือการมีวินัยในตนเอง หลังจากที่เราสามารถกำหนดวิสัยทัศน์ และมองภาพอนาคตของตนเองออกแล้ว สิ่งถัดไปที่จะต้องทำก็คือวางแผนว่าจะต้องทำอย่างไรเพื่อให้ตนเองไปสู่เป้าหมายดังกล่าว จากนั้นก็ต้องสร้างวินัยในตนเองแล้วล่ะครับ เพราะถ้าไม่มีวินัย เราก็จะเลิก หรือไม่ก็กลับไปใช้ชีวิตแบบเดิมๆ เพราะชีวิตของคนเรานั้นเรารักความสบายอยู่แล้ว การที่เราจะใช้ชีวิตแบบเรื่อยๆ สบายๆ ไปวันๆ แล้วอยากจะประสบความสำเร็จตามวิสัยทัศน์ที่เราตั้งไว้ ก็คงจะยากหน่อยนะครับ คนที่มีวินัยในตนเองจะมีลักษณะที่ขยันขันแข็ง ไม่ย่อท้อต่อความยากลำบาก เป็นคนประเภทกัดไม่ปล่อยจนกว่าจะประสบความสำเร็จนั่นเองครับ
Passion มีไฟในตัวเอง องค์ประกอบที่ 3 ของคนที่จะประสบความสำเร็จในชีวิต นอกจากมีวิสัยทัศน์ที่ชัดเจนสำหรับเป้าหมายของตนเองแล้ว มีวินัยมุ่งมั่นที่จะลงมือทำจริงแล้ว สิ่งถัดไปก็คือ จะต้องมีไฟในตัวเองอยู่เสมอ มีความอยากที่จะประสบความสำเร็จ และรักษาไฟในตัวเองให้ยังคงมีอยู่อย่างเสมอต้นเสมอปลาย บางคนที่ไม่ประสบความสำเร็จ ก็เพราะมีไฟในช่วงต้นๆ จากนั้น ไฟที่เคยมีก็มอดหมด แล้วชีวิตก็กลับมาเหมือนเดิมที่เคยเป็นอีกครั้ง

อ่านจบแล้วลองประเมินตนเองดูก็ได้นะครับว่าในแต่ละองค์ประกอบนั้น ตัวเราเองมีสักเท่าไหร่ ให้คะแนนเล่นๆ ก็ได้ ถ้าให้แต่ละองค์กรประกอบเต็ม 10 ตอนนี้เรามีอยู่สักเท่าไหร่ ถ้ารวมคะแนนออกมาแล้วได้ตั้งแต่ 27 ขึ้นไป แสดงว่าท่านพร้อมอย่างมาก และความสำเร็จอยู่ไม่ไกลแล้วล่ะครับ ถ้าอยู่ในช่วงตั้งแต่ 18-26 ก็เรียกกว่ากลางๆ อาจจะต้องจุดไฟ หรือไม่ก็สร้างวินัยในตนเองให้มากขึ้น แต่ถ้าใครต่ำกว่า 18 อาจจะต้องเพิ่มความพยายามอย่างสูง เพราะท่านเป็นคนที่รักสบายมากๆ ดังนั้นถ้าอยากประสบความสำเร็จ ก็คงต้องสร้างวินัยให้มากกว่าเดิมเป็น 3 เท่าเลยครับ

ผมเองก็เชื่อไปทางเรื่องของการมีวินัย คนที่จะประสบความสำเร็จได้ จะต้องเริ่มลงมือทำทันที ไม่รอ ไม่เลื่อน ไม่ผลัดวันประกันพรุ่ง และพอเริ่มลงมือทำแล้ว ก็ต้องมีวินัยที่จะทำมันไปตลอดให้ได้ จนกระทั่งกลายเป็นนิสัยใหม่ แต่ความมีวินัยอาจจะไม่พอ เราก็ต้องสร้างไฟ สร้างแรงจูงใจในตนเอง เพื่อให้วินัยของเรานั้นยังคงอยู่ตลอดไปครับ
