การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อพัฒนาผลสัมฤทธิ์ที่เกิดจากการใช้แผนการสอนแบบสืบเสาะหาความรู้ (5E) เรื่อง การจำแนกพืชและการสืบพันธุ์และขยายพันธุ์สัตว์ กลุ่มสาระการเรียนรู้ วิทยาศาสตร์ สำหรับนักเรียนชั้นประถมศึกษาปีที่ 5 โดยมีประชากรเป็น นักเรียนชั้นประถมศึกษาปีที่ 5 จำนวน 10 คน โรงเรียนชุมชนบ้านน้ำปั้ว ภาคเรียนที่ 1 ปีการศึกษา 2557 ซึ่งได้มาจากการสุ่มแบบเจาะจง เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการศึกษา ได้แก่ แผนการจัดการเรียนรู้แบบเรียนรู้แบบสืบเสาะหาความรู้ (5E) จำนวน 2 แผน คือ เรื่อง การจำแนกพืช และเรื่อง การสืบพันธุ์และขยายพันธุ์สัตว์ และใช้แบบทดสอบก่อนเรียนและหลังเรียน เรื่อง การจำแนกพืชและการสืบพันธุ์และขยายพันธุ์สัตว์เป็นเครื่องมือในการเก็บรวบรวมข้อมูล
