        ๑."วัดเชิงเลน" หรือ "วัดตีนเลน"  เป็นชื่อที่เรียกมาแต่ครั้งกรุงศรีอยุธยาเป็นราชธานี   เลิกใช้เมื่อพระบาทสมเด็จพระพุทธยอดฟ้าจุฬาโลกมหาราช รัชกาลที่ ๑ พระราชทานนามวัดใหม่ว่า “วัดบพิตรพิมุข”
        ๒."วัดบพิตรพิมุข"  เป็นนามที่ได้รับพระราชทานจากพระบาทสมเด็จพระพุทธยอดฟ้าจุฬาโลกมหาราช รัชกาลที่ ๑ เมื่อราว พ.ศ. ๒๓๒๘ ในคราวสมโภชพระนคร และสมโภชวัดพระแก้ว (วัดพระศรีรัตนศาสดาราม)
