คำว่า “American share” ที่คนไทยชอบพูด เพื่อสื่อว่า "ต่างคนต่างจ่ายนะ (ในสถานการณ์ที่เราอยู่ในร้านอาหารหรือต้องจ่ายตังอะไรซักอย่าง)" ที่จะทำให้คนอเมริกันต้องงง!!! แน่นอน เพราะจริงๆ ถ้าจะหมายถึง “ต่างคนต่างจ่าย” เป็นสำนวนภาษาอังกฤษเก๋ๆ ก็ต้องใช้คำว่า Let’s go Dutch. หรือ Go Dutch (with somebody). หรือจะใช้ประโยคง่ายๆ เลยว่า You pay for yourself. (จ่ายในส่วนของตัวเองนะ), Let's just pay separately. (แยกกันจ่ายเถอะนะ),หรือ Everyone pays for their own meal. (ทุกคนจ่ายของตัวเองนะ)
