ต้นยูคาลิปตัสที่ได้ทำการดัดแปลงพันธุกรรมแล้วนั่นเอง เราเป็นนักท่องเที่ยวที่เพิ่งกลับมาจากแคมป์ปิ้งที่อุทยานแห่งชาติปางสีดา ตามทิวเขาจะมีต้นไม้ที่ชาวบ้านนิยมปลูกกันมาก ต้นไม้เหล่านั้นจะเรียงตัวกันเป็นแถวๆดูแล้วสวยงามสูงใหญ่ ภายหลังได้รู้ว่าน!ั่นก็คือไร่ยูคาลิปตัสจากวิทยากรภายในอุทยานนั้น
ท่านวิทยากรได้พูดให้เราฟังว่า การนำต้นยูคาลิปตัสหรือต้น Double Aมาปลูกนั้นเป็นเรื่องร้ายแรงมาก
ในหลวงท่านก็เคยดำรัสไว้ว่าชาวบ้านไม่ควรนำต้นเหล่านี้มาปลูก เพราะมันเป็นพืชต่างถิ่นท่านวิทยากรก็เสริมว่าต้นยูคาเป็นพืชเชิงเดี่ยว เมื่อปลูก!แล้วจะส่งผลให้พื้นแผ่นดินในบริเวณนั้นแห้งผาก เนื่องจากมันี้จะดูดซึมน้ำอย่างรวดเร็วและต้องการน้ำมาก
ทำให้รากของต้นๆหนึ่งอาจยาวได้ถึง20เมตรเลยทีเดียว
เมื่อดินบริเวณนั้นถูกดูดน้ำจนหมดผืนดินก็จะกลาย
เป็นทะเลทรายในที่สุดว่าแล้ววิทยากรก็หยิบดินให้เราดูแล้วโปรยลงพื้นมันคือทรายชัดๆ แทนที่จะเป็นดินในป่าแบบนี้
แล้วเราอยากให้ทุกคนคิดดูถ้ามีการปลูกต้น Double Aเป็นจำนวนมาก
ผู้คนได้ผลกำไรอย่างงอกงามในการทำธุรกิจกับแผ่นดินของชาติ แต่นานๆไปเล่าจะเกิดอะไรขึ้น
