วัดศาลาลอยสถานที่สำคัญซึ่งใช้เป็นสถานที่บรรจุอัฐิของย่าโม ตามตำนานแห่งการสร้างวัดศาลาลอยเล่าว่าในปี  พ.ศ.2370  ภายหลังจากชนะศึกแล้ว  ย่าโมและท่านพระยาปลัดสามีได้แวะพักทัพในการเดินทางเพื่อกลับเมืองโคราช  ระหว่างนั้นท่านได้สั่งทำแพเสี่ยงทายเป็นรูปศาลา และให้ลอยน้ำไปตามลำตะคอง  โดยตั้งจิตอธิษฐานว่าถ้าแพลอยไปหยุดลงตรงที่ใดจะสร้างวัดขึ้นไว้เป็นอนุสรณ์ ซึ่งแพนั้นก็ได้ลอยมาติดตรงริมฝั่งลำตะคองอันเป็นที่ตั้งของวัดศาลาลอยแห่งนี้  ต่อมาภายหลังเมื่อย่าโมได้ถึงแก่อสัญกรรมลงเมื่ออายุ 81  ปี  ในปี พ.ศ.2396  พระยาปลัดสามีของท่านได้ให้ก่อเจดีย์บรรจุอัฐิของย่าโมไว้ที่วัดศาลาลอย  วัดแห่งนี้จึงเป็นที่เคารพสักการะของชาวโคราชสืบมาจนถึงปัจจุบัน
