“…ประมาณเดือนเมษายน ช่วงระยะเวลาของปีใหม่ก็มีงานซึ่งพวกคนเขมรเรียกว่า “ปูนพนม” (Pun Pnoum) เป็นงานบุญกุศลซึ่งมีจุดเด่นอยู่ที่มีการขนเอาทรายมาแทนดินที่ติดคนออกจากวัดในช่วงเวลาหนึ่งปี ที่ลานวัดพวกชาวพุทธจะพากันก่อกองทรายเล็ก ๆ แล้วนำเอาไม้ไผ่ปักลงไปพร้อมธงกระดาษ (ตุง) แล้วเอาน้ำรด พระภิกษุจะมาทำการสวดมนต์ ตอนเย็นก่อนวันจัดงาน และจะสวดอีกในตอนเช้าของวันจัดงาน กองทรายนั้นจะล้อมรอบด้วยฝ้าย (ด้ายสายพิมาย) ซึ่งจะมีพานข้าวตอก ดอกไม้ และขวดน้ำหอม พระภิกษุฉันอาหารเสร็จแล้ว ก็รับเอาเครื่องไทยทานที่จับสลากได้ ในระยะเวลา ๓ วันทั้งชายและหญิงจะพากันเล่นอยู่กับบ้าน ในโอกาสเดียวกันนั้นชาวเมืองโคราชก็จะทำการถวายน้ำ…”
