โครงงานวิทยาศาสตร์เรื่อง ผลของสารสกัดจากเมล็ดมะขามและน้ำตะโกที่มีผลต่อคุณภาพของไม้ เป็นการศึกษาการนำเมล็ดมะขามที่เหลือใช้มาสกัดด้วยตัวทำละลายชนิดต่างๆ แล้วผสมด้วยน้ำตะโกในอัตราส่วนที่ต่างกันเพื่อนำไปเคลือบไม้แทนชะแล็กซึ่งเป็นสารเคมีและเป็นพิษต่อผู้ใช้ อีกทั้งเมื่อนำไปเคลือบไม้ยังสามารถป้องกันปลวก ป้องกันมด การทดลองแบ่งออกเป็น ๓ ขั้นตอน คือ ๑. ศึกษาตัวทำละลายที่มีผลต่อการสกัดสารจากเมล็ดมะขามที่มีผลต่อคุณภาพของไม้เฟอร์นิเจอร์ ๒. ศึกษาอัตราส่วนระหว่างน้ำตะโกกับสารสกัดจากเมล็ดมะขามที่สกัดด้วยเอทิลแอลกอฮอล์ที่มีผลต่อคุณภาพของไม้เฟอร์นิเจอร์ ๓. ศึกษาเปรียบเทียบคุณภาพของไม้ที่เคลือบด้วยสารสกัดจากเมล็ดมะขามผสมน้ำตะโกกับชะแล็ก
