โชควาญิชย์พงษ์ และคณะ (2552) ได้ทำการสำรวจพฤติกรรมทัศนคติการบริโภคปลาดิบและการเกิดมะเร็งท่อน้ำดี ของประชากรในจังหวัดอุดรธานี โดยมีประชากรกลุ่มตัวอย่างจำนวน 968 คน โดยการสัมภาษณ์และเก็บตัวอย่างอุจจาระเพื่อตรวจหาไข่พยาธิใบไม้ในตับ ผลการวิจัยพบว่าประชาชนส่วนใหญ่ที่อาศัยอยู่ในพื้นที่ยังคงมีการบริโภคปาดิบที่แตกต่างกัน ประชากรส่วนมากทราบว่าการบริโภคปลาดิบเป็นสาเหตุของการเกิดโรคพยาธิใบไม้ในตับ (ร้อยละ 59.0) แต่ไม่ทราบว่าการติดเชื้อพยาธิใบไม้ในตับนั้นเป็นสาเหตุทำให้เกิดโรคมะเร็งท่อน้ำดี (ร้อยละ 19.9) นอกจากนี้ยังพบว่า ประชากรคิดว่าการบริโภคปลาดิบนานๆครั้ง (ร้อยละ 29.8) หรือบริโภคแต่น้อย (ร้อยละ 22.9) ไม่น่าจะเป็นสาเหตุให้ติดเชื้อพยาธิใบไม้ในตับ
