นายนพดล เปิดเผยว่า ก่อนเกิดเหตุ ได้ไปซื้อของที่ตลาดบ้านเหนือ ขณะควักกระเป๋าออกมาซื้อของ เงินจำนวน 9 หมื่นบาท ได้หล่นหายโดยไม่รู้ตัว พอกลับไปถึงบ้านเกือบ 2 ชั่วโมงถึงนึกขึ้นได้ ก็พบว่าเงินหายไปแล้ว จึงได้สอบถามแม่ค้าที่ตลาด ก็ทราบว่า นายสิทธิชัยเป็นคนเก็บได้ จึงไปตามหา ซึ่งนายสิทธิชัยบอกว่ากำลังจะไปแจ้งตำรวจพอดี ซึ่งตนดีใจมากๆ ไม่คิดว่าจะพบคนดีๆ แบบนี้ ซึ่งเงินเป็นของสมาชิกสหกรณ์ หากหายไปจะต้องใช้หนี้หลายปี

ด้านนายสิทธิชัย เปิดเผยว่า ขณะเดินไปตลาดสดกับแม่ ก็เห็นเงินจำนวนมาก เมื่อเก็บขึ้นมาก็ปรึกษากับแม่ ก่อนจะพากันกลับบ้านไปบอกพ่อ ซึ่งพ่อบอกว่าให้ไปแจ้งตำรวจ ก็พอดีเจ้าของเงินมาหาพอดี จึงคืนเงินให้ทั้งหมด โดยคิดว่าไม่ใช่เงินของเรา จึงคืนเจ้าของไป
