ในปัจจุบันได้แพร่หลายไปทั่วทุกภาค และกำลังได้รับความนิยมเพิ่มขึ้นเรื่อยๆอีกทั้งกีฬาเปตองได้แพร่หลายเข้าสู่ระบบการศึกษาของไทย อีกทั้งถูกเลือกให้เป็นกิจกรรมนันทนาการในสถานศึกษา นอกจากนั้นหน่วยงานต่างๆทั้งของรัฐและเอกชนได้พิจารณาเห็นว่ากิจกรรมเปตองเป็นกิจกรรมกีฬาและนันทนาการที่ส่งเสริมความสามัคคีและลดความเครียดจากภารกิจ หน้าที่การงานได้ดี
