ความสำคัญของประเพณีการแห่นก
ประเพณีการแห่นก เป็นประเพณีการทางพื้นเมืองของจังหวัดชายแดนภาคใต้ โดยเฉพาะที่นราธิวาส ซึ่งได้มีการกระทำสืบเนื่องกันมาเป็นเวลานาน เป็นประเพณีนิยมที่ไม่เกี่ยวข้องกับทางศาสนา ไม่เป็นประเพณีตามนักขัตฤกษ์ แต่จัดขึ้นเป็นครั้งคราวตามโอกาส เพื่อความสนุกรื่นเริง เป็นการแสดงออกเกี่ยวกับการใช้ความคิดริเริ่มสร้างสรรค์ ในศิลปะและอาจจัดขึ้นในการแสดงความคารวะ แสดงความจงรักภักดี แก่ผู้ใหญ่ที่ควรเคารพนับถือ หรือในโอกาสต้อนรับแขกเมือง บางทีอาจจัดขึ้นเพื่อความรื่นเริงในพิธีการเข้าสุนัต หรือที่เรียกว่า "มาโซยาวี" หรือจัดขึ้นเพื่อประกวดเป็นครั้งคราว นกที่นิยมทำขึ้นเพื่อการแห่มีเพียง ๔ ตัว คือ
