ในส่วนของโปรแกรม Game Maker นั้นเป็นเครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการพัฒนาเกม ซึ่งมีการพัฒนาตัวโปรแกรมมาอย่างต่อเนื่องตั้งแต่ปี 1999 จนถึงปัจจุบันยังมีการพัฒนาอย่างก้าวกระโดดอยู่เสมอ

ปัจจุบัน Game Maker ได้พัฒนามาถึงเวอร์ชั่นที่มีชื่อว่า Game Maker : Studio โดยเวอร์ชั่นก่อนหน้านี้คือ Game Maker 8.1 ซึ่งได้รับความนิยมเป็นอย่างมากในหมู่นักพัฒนาเกมทั่วโลก

โดย Game Maker นั้นได้มีการเรียกชื่อสั้นๆว่าโปรแกรม "GM"

ฉะนั้น เราสามารถสร้าง Application ที่สามารถรองรับได้ทุกอุปกรณ์ในการพัฒนาแค่ครั้งเดียวเท่านั้น
