เนื่องจากมีความจำเป็นจะต้องได้รับการรักษาพยาบาลโดยเร่งด่วน มิฉะนั้นอาจจะเป็นอันตรายถึงแก่ชีวิตได้ ผู้ประกันตนสามารถเข้ารับการรักษา ในโรงพยาบาลที่อยู่ใกล้ที่เกิดเหตุที่สุด โดยผู้ประกันตนหรือญาติหรือผู้เกี่ยวข้องจะต้องรีบแจ้งให้โรงพยาบาลตามบัตรรับรองสิทธิฯ ทราบโดยด่วน เพื่อจะได้รับผิดชอบค่าใช้จ่ายในการรักษาพยาบาลต่อไป สำหรับค่ารักษาพยาบาลที่เกิดขึ้นก่อนการแจ้งให้โรงพยาบาลตามบัตรรับรองสิทธิฯ ทราบสำนักงานประกันสังคมจะรับผิดชอบค่าใช้จ่ายภายใน 3 วัน (72 ชั่วโมง) ตามประเภทและอัตราที่ประกาศกำหนด

ผู้ป่วยนอก
1. สามารถเบิกค่ารักษาพยาบาลได้เท่าที่จ่ายจริงตามความจำเป็น

ผู้ป่วยใน
1. สามารถเบิกค่ารักษาพยาบาลได้เท่าที่จ่ายจริงตามความจำเป็นภายในระยะเวลาไม่เกิน 72 ชั่วโมง ยกเว้น ค่าห้องและอาหารเบิกได้ไม่เกินวันละ 700 บาท
** กรณีประสบอันตรายหรือเจ็บป่วยฉุกเฉินผู้ประกันตนสามารถขอรับค่าบริการทางการแพทย์ได้โดยไม่จำกัดจำนวนครั้ง
