ปัจจุบันอิทธิพลจากชาติตะวันตกได้เข้ามามีบทบาทมากขึ้นทั้งการดำรงชีวิตวัฒนธรรมหรือแม้แต่ภาษาจนทำให้เอกลักษณ์ของไทยถูกลบเลือนไปอย่างรวดเร็ว ดังนั้นจึงต้องมีการปลูกฝังจิตสำนึกให้คนในชาติหันมาให้ความสนใจในเอกลักษณ์ของไทยเราเพื่อไม่ให้อิทธิพลของชาติตะวันตกเข้ามามีบทบาทหรืออำนาจที่เหนือกว่า จึงได้มีการศึกษาถึงเอกลักษณ์ของไทยที่มีอยู่โดยผู้วิจัยเลือกที่จะศึกษาเกี่ยวกับงานหัตถกรรมประเภทเครื่องจักสานจากไม้ไผ่เพราะงานหัตถกรรมประเภทนี้ก็เป็นเอกลักษณ์อย่างหนึ่งที่สามารถถ่ายทอดถึง วัฒนธรรม ภูมิปัญญา รวมไปถึงวิถีชีวิตความเป็นอยู่ของบุคคลหรือกลุ่มคนนั้นๆ ได้ ซึ่งผู้วิจัยได้นำเอางานหัตถกรรมประเภทเครื่องจักสานจากไม้ไผ่ของหมู่บ้านสนุ่น ตำบลท่าหลวง มาทำการออกแบบพัฒนาเป็นชุดโต๊ะกาแฟให้เกิดรูปทรงที่แปลกใหม่สวยงาม ซึ่งมีวิธีดำเนินงานโดยศึกษาถึงรูปแบบของงานหัตถกรรมด้านต่างๆ ทั้งการศึกษาข้อมูล การลงพื้นที่หรือแม้แต่การสัมภาษณ์จากบุคคลที่มีความรู้ ความสามารถในเรื่องนี้รวมไปถึงการศึกษาถึงกรรมวิธีการผลิตเพื่อนำมาพัฒนาให้ผลิตภัณฑ์ของชาวบ้านมีจุดเด่นเป็นที่รู้จักมากขึ้น
