ประเทศไทย โดยสำนักงานมาตรฐานผลิตภัณฑ์อุตสาหกรรม (สมอ.) เป็นหน่วยงานด้านการมาตรฐานแห่งชาติ ทำหน้าที่เป็นตัวแทนประเทศไทยในฐานะที่เป็นสมาชิก ISO ซึ่งหลังจากที่ ISO มีแนวทางที่จะกำหนดมาตรฐาน ISO 26000 ขึ้น สมอ.ได้ดำเนินการจัดตั้งคณะกรรมการวิชาการจาก ผู้ทรงคุณวุฒิในทุกภาคส่วนที่เกี่ยวข้องจาก ๖ ภาคส่วน ๒๕ องค์กร เข้าร่วมดำเนินการกำหนดมาตรฐาน ดังกล่าวร่วมกัน พร้อมทั้งได้จัดให้มีการสัมมนาเรื่อง ISO 26000 อย่างต่อเนื่อง เพื่อเป็นการเตรียมความพร้อม ตลอดจนสร้างความรู้และความเข้าใจที่ถูกต้องตรงกันเกี่ยวกับมาตรฐานดังกล่าว ก่อนที่จะมีการประกาศใช้อย่างเป็นทางการ โดยมุ่งหวังให้องค์กรสามารถนำไปใช้ในการดำเนินการด้านความรับผิดชอบต่อสังคม ได้อย่างมีประสิทธิภาพและก่อให้เกิดประโยชน์ในทุกภาคส่วนของสังคม ล่าสุดทาง สมอ. ได้จัดทำแนวทางความรับผิดชอบต่อสังคม หรือ มอก. 26000 ในฉบับภาษาไทย เพื่อเผยแพร่ให้แก่ผู้ประกอบการไทยได้รับทราบถึงหลักการสำคัญ วิธีการดำเนินการ ประโยชน์ที่คาดว่า จะได้รับ รวมถึงภาคส่วนที่ต้องรับผิดชอบ และจุดสังเกตที่น่าสนใจอีกอย่างคือ ในแนวทางความรับผิดชอบต่อสังคม ISO 26000 นั้นจะใช้คำว่า SR แทนคำว่า CSR เนื่องจากสามารถนำไปใช้ได้กับองค์กรทุกประเภท ที่มีความสนใจในการดำเนินกิจกรรมความรับผิดชอบต่อสังคม ไม่ว่าจะเป็นภาคเอกชน ภาครัฐ และองค์กรที่ไม่หวังผลกำไรขนาดใหญ่ หรือขนาดเล็กก็ได้ หรือแม้แต่การนำไปใช้ในประเทศ ที่พัฒนาแล้ว หรือกำลังพัฒนาก็ตาม โดยจัดทำประกาศกระทรวงอุตสาหกรรมเรื่อง กำหนดมาตรฐานผลิตภัณฑ์อุตสาหกรรมแนวทางความรับผิดชอบต่อสังคม มาตรฐานเลขที่ มอก. ๒๖๐๐๐-๒๕๕๓ เมื่อวันที่ ๓๐ กันยายน ๒๕๕๓ และได้ร่วมกับสถาบันไทยพัฒน์ริเริ่มโครงการแนวร่วมการประกอบกิจการตามมาตรฐานความรับผิดชอบต่อสังคม ISO 26000 เพื่อเสริมสร้างการรับรู้ในมาตรฐาน ISO 26000 และการนำไปประยุกต์ใช้อย่างเป็นระบบ ให้แก่สถานประกอบการในจังหวัดต่างๆ ทั่วประเทศ รองรับการเปิดตลาดเสรีในระดับภูมิภาคอาเซียน และการค้าที่ให้ความสำคัญกับ CSR ในระดับสากล โครงการนี้ ในปี ๒๕๕๕ มีสถานประกอบการที่สนใจและสมัครเข้าร่วม ทั้งสิ้น ๑๐๑ ราย ผ่านการเข้าร่วมอบรมและนำไปปฏิบัติ จำนวน ๔๙ ราย (ครอบคลุม ๑๑ จังหวัด) ได้รับรายงานผลการประเมินสมรรถภาพในกระบวนการดำเนินงาน เพื่อนำไปสู่การประเมินให้เป็นสถานประกอบการตัวอย่างด้านความรับผิดชอบต่อสังคมตามมาตรฐาน ISO 26000 จากโครงการ จำนวน ๒๐ ราย (ข้อมูล ณ เดือนกันยายน ๒๕๕๕)
นอกจากนี้ กรมโรงงานอุตสาหกรรมก็ได้มีการจัดทำโครงการเกี่ยวกับ CSR โดยใช้ชื่อว่า
โครงการพัฒนาโรงงานอุตสาหกรรมให้มีความรับผิดชอบต่อสังคมอย่างมีส่วนร่วม หรือ CSR-DIW ซึ่งได้ดำเนินการตั้งแต่ปี ๒๕๕๑ จนถึงปัจจุบัน
กรมสวัสดิการและคุ้มครองแรงงานก็ไม่น้อยหน้าเช่นกัน ในฐานะหน่วยงานที่มีอำนาจหน้าที่เกี่ยวกับการบังคับใช้กฎหมายแรงงานทั้งในแง่การกำกับดูแลและการส่งเสริมให้มีการปฏิบัติตามกฎหมายแรงงานและกฎระเบียบที่เกี่ยวข้อง รวมทั้งการส่งเสริมให้มีการนำมาตรฐานแรงงานไทย (มรท. ๘๐๐๑-๒๕๕๓) ซึ่งเป็นมาตรฐานความรับผิดชอบต่อสังคมด้านแรงงานและเป็นมาตรฐานเชิงสมัครใจไปสู่การปฏิบัติและให้การรับรอง (Certification) หรือการประกาศแสดงตนเอง (Self Declaration) ได้มีการดำเนินการเรื่องนี้มาตั้งแต่ พ.ศ. ๒๕๔๖ โดยมุ่งเน้นยกระดับคุณภาพชีวิตแรงงาน ระบบการจัดการด้านแรงงาน รวมถึงสริมสร้างให้ธุรกิจมีการพัฒนาที่ยั่งยืน ในปัจจุบันกรมมีนโยบายพัฒนาระบบการรับรอง มรท.๘๐๐๑-๒๕๕๓ โดยให้ภาคเอกชนเข้ามามีส่วนร่วมดำเนินการในการเป็นหน่วยรับรองระบบ มรท.๘๐๐๑-๒๕๕๓ โดยประสานความร่วมมือกับ สมอ. ในการพัฒนาระบบการรับรองให้สอดคล้องกับหลักเกณฑ์สากล จึงได้ตกลงร่วมมือกันจัดทำบันทึกความเข้าใจ (Memorandum of Understanding : MOU) เรื่อง ความร่วมมือในการดำเนินกิจกรรมเพื่อการพัฒนาระบบการรับรองมาตรฐานแรงงานไทย เมื่อวันที่ ๙ มิถุนายน ๒๕๕๔ กรมได้เริ่มการโอนถ่ายงานตรวจประเมินและรับรอง มรท.๘๐๐๑-๒๕๕๓ ให้แก่ภาคเอกชน โดยเริ่มตั้งแต่ปีงบประมาณ พ.ศ. ๒๕๕๕ ทั้งนี้ การถ่ายโอนจะเริ่มต้นจากสถานประกอบกิจการขนาดใหญ่ ไปสู่ขนาดกลาง และปีงบประมาณ พ.ศ. ๒๕๕๙ สถานประกอบกิจการทุกแห่งและทุกขนาดให้ภาคเอกชนที่เป็นหน่วยรับรองมาตรฐานแรงงานไทย ดำเนินการตรวจประเมินและรับรอง
