โครงงานนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาการออกแบบเครื่องแต่งกายรูปแบบชุดราตรีโดยได้รับแรงบันดาลใจจากโครงร่างและรูปทรงของดอกพะยอม โดยออกแบบผลงานให้มีความทันสมัยโดยแสดงออกทางเครื่องแต่งกายรูปแบบชุดราตรี เป็นการนำลักษณะเด่นของดอกพะยอมที่เป็นจุดสนใจ คือ โครงร่างและรูปทรงของดอกพะยอมที่สามารถนำมาเชื่อมโยงกับเสื้อผ้ารูปแบบชุดราตรี มาผสมผสานในการออกแบบเครื่องแต่งกายรูปแบบชุดราตรี ที่ทำให้ผู้สวมใส่ มีความสง่างาม และมีรสนิยม
เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการศึกษาครั้งนี้ เป็นแบบวิเคราะห์ของดอกพะยอมและผลงานการออกแบบเครื่องแต่งกายของสุภาพสตรี โดยแบ่งเกณฑ์ในการวิเคราะห์ 3 ด้าน ได้แก่ 1. โครงร่างเส้นกราบนอก 2. สีสัน 3. ลักษณะของกลีบดอกโดยมุ่งเน้นถึงลักษณะทางกายภาพ และการวิเคราะห์ภาพผลงานโดยรวม เพื่อนำมาสร้างสรรค์รูปแบบชุดราตรี
ผลจากการศึกษาพบว่า โครงร่างและรูปทรงของดอกพะยอม เป็นการนำโครงร่างมาประยุกต์ใช้กับการออกแบบเครื่องแต่งกายรูปแบบชุดราตรี ที่ทำการออกแบบให้มีความเรียบหรูโดยให้ความสำคัญกับรูปแบบของชุด และการเลือกใช้วัสดุและการย้อมผ้า เพื่อให้รูปแบบชุดราตรีมีความกลมกลืนและน่าสนใจ อีกทำให้เกิดภาพลักษณ์ที่สวยงาม
