ศึกษากลิ่นของ ตะไคร้หอมเปลือกมะกรูดต่อยุง โดยทำการเปรียบเทียบกลิ่นของ ตะไคร้หอม เปลือกมะกรูด เปลือกส้ม ใบเตย และขมิ้น โดยการตากแห้งแล้วนำไปนึ่งในเวลา 30 นาที ได้กลิ่นสมุนไพรจากพืช 5 ชนิด ดังนี้ แล้วนำกลิ่นของสมุนไพรที่ได้ไปทดลองประสิทธิภาพ ที่มีต่อการไล่ยุงในกลิ่นของสมุนไพรแต่ละชนิด สังเกตจากการทดลองในทุก 30 นาที ระหว่างความเข้มข้นของ ตะไคร้หอม เปลือกมะกรูด เปลือกส้ม ใบเตยและขมิ้นกับอัตราในการไล่ยุง
จากการทดลองพบว่าอัตราการไล่ยุงของสมุนไพรมีความแตกต่างกันในแต่ละชนิดและกลิ่นของสมุนไพร โดยกลิ่นของตะไคร้หอมมีประสิทธิภาพในการไล่ยุงดีที่สุด รองลงมาคือขมิ้น เปลือกส้ม เปลือกมะกรูดและใบเตย ตามลำดับ และเมื่อนำถุงหอมสมุนไพรทั้ง5 ชนิดมารวมกันทดลองใช้จะมีประสิทธิภาพมากขึ้น
