Characteristically, the illness
will start with a prodromal or high-risk period where people may have unusual ideas or disturbances of thought and/or changes in their behaviour; such as social withdrawal, apathy and loss of pleasure- anhedonia. This social withdrawal, low mood and anhedonia can be described as negative symptoms.
