Remember Super Typhoon Haiyan which wreaked havoc on millions of Filipino families more than eight months ago? This morning, ASEAN organized a pre-conference meeting held at the ASEAN Secretariat which gathered ambassadors and members of the diplomatic corps, ASEAN's partners, and the private sector, to gather support for the recovery of communities affected by Typhoon Haiyan. This meeting is a prelude to the high level conference to be convened in Manila next month which will focus on Assistance for the Recovery of Yolanda-Affected Areas (ARYA). This initiative, led by ASEAN in partnership with the Philippine Government, will showcase once again ASEAN unity in supporting the recovery and rehabilitation efforts of one of its members.
