จึงขออัญเชิญพระบรมสารีริกธาตุที่ได้บรรจุในโกศที่เตรียมไว้นั้นไปสถิตอยู่ในสถานที่ซึ่งพระพุทธเจ้าได้ทรงหมายไว้นั้นเถิด เมื่ออธิษฐานแล้วพระบรมสารีริกธาตุทั้งหลายก็เสด็จออกจากโกศโดยทางอากาศไปตั้งอยู่ที่แห่งนั้น ๆ ทุกแห่ง ส่วนพระบรมสารีริกธาตุเหลืออยู่ พระอรหันต์ทั้งปวงก็อัญเชิญไปบรรจุในพระเจดีย์ 84,000 องค์นั้น แล้วประกาศแก่เทวดาทั้งหลายให้พิทักษ์รักษาตลอดไป จนกว่าจะหมดอายุแห่พระพุทธศาสนา 5,000 พระวัสสา กรมศิลปากรได้ประกาศขึ้นทะเบียนพระธาตุช่อแฮ เป็นโบราณสถานในราชกิจจานุเบกษา เล่มที่ 52 ตอนที่ 75 ลงวันที่ 8 มีนาคม พ.ศ. 2478 และได้ประกาศกำหนดขอบเขตโบราณสถาน เล่มที่ 97 ตอนที่ 159 ลงวันที่ 14 ตุลาคม 2523
