ในปัจจุบันมีเว็บไซต์มากมายที่ให้บริการข้อมูลคำถาม-คำตอบที่มีผู้ถามมากที่สุดหรือที่เรียกว่า FAQ (Frequency Answer Question) เพื่อให้ผู้ใช้ทั่วไปสามารถเข้ามาสืบค้นและดูคำถาม-คำตอบที่มีผู้อื่นถามมากที่สุด และเนื่องจากการเก็บข้อมูลคำถามคำตอบส่วนใหญ่จะถูกเก็บในฐานข้อมูล และการค้นหาคำถามและคำตอบดังกล่าว ผู้ใช้จะต้องเป็นผู้ค้นหาเอง หรือต้องมีการใช้คำค้นที่อยู่ในรูปแบบของ คำสำคัญ (keyword) ซึ่งถ้าคำสำคัญที่ผู้ใช้ป้อนนั้นไม่ตรงกับคำสำคัญที่มีในคลังคำถาม-คำตอบระบบจะไม่สามารถแสดงคำถาม-คำตอบที่ผู้ใช้ต้องการได้แม้ว่าคำสำคัญที่ผู้ใช้ป้อนจะมีความหมายเดียวกันกับคำสำคัญอื่นที่มีในคลังคำถาม-คำตอบ ดังนั้นโครงการนี้จึงพัฒนาระบบสืบค้นข้อมูลคำถาม-คำตอบแบบสื่อความหมายโดยนำเอาเทคโนโลยีเว็บแบบสื่อความหมายหรือ Semantic Web เข้ามาช่วยให้ระบบสามารถค้นหาคำถาม คำตอบโดยง่าย ซึ่งนอกจากผู้ใช้จะสามารถใช้คำสำคัญในการสืบค้นคำถามได้แล้ว ก็ยังสามารถสืบค้นในรูปแบบของประโยคได้อีกด้วย ซึ่งระบบจะสามารถหาความสัมพันธ์ของคำค้นกับคำอื่นที่มีความหมายเหมือนกัน หรือในรูปแบบของประโยคที่มีความหมายสอดคล้องกัน เพื่อให้ได้คำตอบที่สอดคล้องกับที่ผู้ใช้ต้องการถามได้มากที่สุด อันจะส่งผลให้ผู้ใช้ลดเวลาในการสืบค้นข้อมูลและช่วยให้การค้นหามีประสิทธิภาพตรงต่อความต้องการของผู้ใช้อย่างแท้จริง
