ความสำคัญ 1. ได้รับการประกาศให้เป็นอุทยานแห่งชาติทางทะเลแห่งแรกของประเทศไทย

วันที่ 19 เมษายน 2517

2. ได้รับยกย่องจากองค์การยูเนสโก ให้เป็นมรดกแห่งอาเซียน

( ASEAN Heritage Parks and Reserves ) ในปี พ.ศ. 2525

ที่ตั้ง 1. ทะเลอันดามัน

2. ห่างจากตัวเมืองสตูลประมาณ 40 กิโลเมตร

และห่างจากฝั่งที่ท่าเรือปากบารา 22 กิโลเมตร

3. ทิศเหนือจดอุทยานแห่งชาติหมู่เกาะเภตรา
