จากการสำรวจหนอนพยาธิจากปลาทอง (Carassius auratus) และปลาหางนกยูง (Poecilia reticulata) ในครั้งนี้ใช้ปลาทอง 30 ตัว และปลาหางนกยูง 30 ตัว โดยวิธีการซื้อปลาจากร้านจำหน่ายปลาสวยงาม ในอำเภอเมือง จังหวัดนครศรีธรรมราช ในระหว่างเดือนสิงหาคม-เดือนพฤศจิกายน 2558 จากการศึกษาจำนวนปลาทองที่ตรวจพบหนอนพยาธิ 18 ตัว คิดเป็นร้อยละ 60 (18/30) จำนวนปลาหางนกยูงที่พบหนอนพยาธิ 9 ตัว คิดเป็นร้อยละ 30 (9/30) หนอนพยาธิที่พบทั้งหมด 2 ชนิด ค่า Prevalence และ Intensity ของหนอนพยาธิที่ได้จากการสำรวจในปลาทอง และปลาหางนกยูง มีค่าดังนี้ หนอนพยาธิปลิงใส (Monogenea) 1 ชนิด คือ Gyrodactylus elegans โดยมีอัตราค่าความชุกเท่ากับร้อยละ 36.66 และมีค่าความหนาแน่นเท่ากับ 3.59 ส่วนหนอนพยาธิใบไม้ระยะเมตาเซอร์คาเรีย (Metacercaria) 1 ชนิด คือ Centrocestus caninus มีอัตราความชุกเท่ากับร้อยละ 8.33 และมีค่าความหนาแน่นเท่ากับ 1.40 และยังพบ Spore ของ Protozoa ที่อาจจะเป็นสาเหตุของการเกิดโรคได้ ซึ่งปลาทองจะพบหนอนพยาธิปลิงใส (Monogenea) เพียงชนิดเดียว คือ G. elegans สำหรับในปลาหางนกยูงพบหนอนพยาธิทั้งสองชนิด
