ความหมายกลุ่มปัญญานิยม

ปัญญานิยมหรือกลุ่มความรู้ความเข้าใจ หรือบางครั้งอาจเรียกว่ากลุ่มพุทธินิยม เป็นกลุ่มที่เน้นกระบวนการทางปัญญาหรือความคิด นักคิดกลุ่มนี้ ได้ขยายขอบเขตของความคิดที่เน้นทางด้านพฤติกรรม ออกไปสู่กระบวนการทางความคิด ซึ่งเป็นกระบวนการภายในสมอง ทฤษฎีปัญญานิยมนี้ เกิดขึ้นจากแนวคิดของชอมสกี้ (Chomsky) ที่ไม่เห็น ด้วยกับสกินเนอร์ (Skinner) บิดา ของทฤษฎีพฤติกรรมนิยม ในการมองพฤติกรรมมนุษย์มนุษย์ไว้ว่า เป็นเสมือนการทดลองทางวิทยาศาสตร์ ชอมสกี้เชื่อว่า พฤติกรรมมนุษย์นั้นเป็นเรื่องของภายในจิตใจ มนุษย์ไม่ใช่ผ้าขาวที่เมื่อใส่สีอะไรลงไปก็จะกลายเป็นสีนั้น มนุษย์มีความนึกคิด มีอารมณ์จิตใจและความรู้สึกภายในที่แตกต่างกันออกไป ดังนั้นการออกแบบการเรียนการสอนก็ควรที่จะคานึงถึงความแตกต่างภายในของมนุษย์ด้วย

ความแตกต่างระหว่างแนวคิดแบบพฤติกรรมนิยมและปัญญานิยม

เวสท์และคณะ (West and Others, 1991) ได้เสนอถึงความแตกต่างระหว่างทฤษฎีพฤติกรรมนิยมและปัญญานิยมไว้ดังนี้

1. ทฤษฎีพฤติกรรมนิยมมุ่งเน้นในเรื่องของพฤติกรรมหรือการกระทาภายนอกซึ่งสามารถสังเกตได้ ในขณะที่ทฤษฎีปัญญานิยมมุ่งเน้นถึงสิ่งที่อยู่ภายในจิตใจมนุษย์
2. ทฤษฎีพฤติกรรมนิยมมุ่งชี้ความสาคัญขององค์ประกอบย่อย ๆ แต่ละส่วนจากส่วนหนึ่งไปยังอีกส่วนหนึ่งและจากส่วนประกอบต่าง ๆ ไปสู่ภาพรวมหรือวัตถุประสงค์รวมในที่สุดในทางกลับกันนั้น ทฤษฎีปัญญานิยมพยายามชี้ในภาพรวมเป็นหลัก จากภาพรวมหรือวัตถุประสงค์รวมไปสู่ส่วนประกอบ และตามด้วยการมองจากส่วนประกอบต่าง ๆ ไปสู่ภาพรวมหรือวัตถุประสงค์รวมอีกครั้งหนึ่ง
