พิพิธภัณฑ์คติชนวิทยา-สถาบันทักษิณคดีศึกษา
ตั้งอยู่หมู่ที่ 1 ตำบลเกาะยอ อำเภอเมืองสงขลา บริเวณใกล้เชิงสะพานติณฯ ตอนเหนือ และอยู่ริมทางหลวงหมายเลข 4146 มีพื้นที่ทั้งหมด 23 ไร่ 1 งาน 39.9 ตารางวา พื้นที่ส่วนหนึ่งอยู่บริเวณเชิงเขา และอีกส่วนหนึ่งอยู่บนยอดเขา และเมื่อขึ้นไปอยู่บนสุดของพื้นที่ จะสามารถมองเห็นทะเลสาบส่วนที่ล้อมเกาะทั้ง 3 ด้าน เป็นทัศนียภาพที่สวยงามมาก
สถาบันแห่งนี้ตั้งขึ้นเมื่อ พ.ศ. 2521 เพื่อศึกษาเกี่ยวกับศิลปวัฒนธรรมของภาคใต้ และมีการจัดนิทรรศการเกี่ยวกับศิลปวัฒนธรรมของภาคใต้ไว้ เป็นที่น่าสนใจมาก เช่น ศิลปวัฒนธรรมพื้นบ้านจิตรกรรมฝาผนัง เครื่องดนตรีพื้นบ้านตลอดจนผลิตภัณฑ์งานฝีมือต่างๆ สถาบันทักษิณคดีศึกษาประกอบด้วยส่วนสำคัญ 5 ส่วนคือ พิพิธภัณฑ์คติชนวิทยา อุทยานวัฒนธรรมศูนย์วิทยบริการด้านวัฒนธรรม งานส่งเสริมและเผยแพร่และหมู่บ้านวัฒนธรรมสาธิต สถาบันเปิดให้ผู้สนใจชมในเวลาราชการทุกวัน
