การทำวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์ เพื่อศึกษาแนวคิดทฤษฎีที่เกี่ยวข้องกับการดำเนินการคุมประพฤติของจำเลยที่เป็นผู้ใหญ่ สภาพปัญหาที่เกี่ยวข้องกับการควบคุม ส่งเสริมและสนับสนุนการดำเนินการคุมประพฤติของจำเลยที่เป็นผู้ใหญ่ ตลอดถึงมาตรการทางกฎหมายที่เกี่ยวข้องกับการควบคุม ส่งเสริมและสนับสนุนการดำเนินการคุมประพฤติของจำเลยที่เป็นผู้ใหญ่ทั้งของไทยและต่างประเทศ นำมาวิเคราะห์ เพื่อให้ได้มาซึ่งมาตรการทางกฎหมายเพื่อควบคุม ส่งเสริมและสนับสนุนการดำเนินการคุมประพฤติของจำเลยที่เป็นผู้ใหญ่
โดยผู้วิจัยได้ใช้ระเบียบวิธีวิจัยเพื่อทำการศึกษาวิเคราะห์ข้อมูล ให้สอดคล้องกับสมมุติฐานของการวิจัยและกรอบแนวคิดในการวิจัย อาศัยข้อมูลที่ได้จากการทบทวนแนวคิดทฤษฎีที่เกี่ยวข้องกับการดำเนินการคุมประพฤติของจำเลยที่เป็นผู้ใหญ่ รวมทั้งกฎหมายทั้งในประเทศและต่างประเทศ ซึ่งเป็นกฎหมายที่เกี่ยวข้องกับการคุมประพฤติของจำเลยที่เป็นผู้ใหญ่โดยตรง พบว่ามาตรการที่เกี่ยวกับการควบคุม ส่งเสริมและสนับสนุนการดำเนินการคุมประพฤติของจำเลยที่เป็นผู้ใหญ่ พบว่ายังไม่เป็นรูปธรรมและไม่ครอบคลุมเพียงพอที่จะทำให้การดำเนินการคุมประพฤติของจำเลยที่เป็นผู้ใหญ่ประสบความสำเร็จตามเจตนารมณ์ของการดำเนินการคุมประพฤติที่วางไว้
