Electrode1 and electrode2 are anode while electrode 3 is common cathode. From these electrodes, the trimming procedure will change refractive index (phase angle) in pair of Y-branch, i.e. upper side of LO with lower side of signal and lower side of LO with upper side of signal. So, trimming at mixer will have some phase angle error because of relation of LO and signal thin film heater. That means trimming at mixer cannot change only each branch of Y-branch.
