การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์ ๓ ประการ คือ ๑) เพื่อศึกษากระบวนทัศน์การแพทย์เชิงพุทธ ๒) เพื่อศึกษาการรักษาโรคด้วยน้ำมูตรเน่าที่ถือปฏิบัติมา โดยชาวตำบลโนนทอง อำเภอแวงใหญ่ จังหวัดขอนแก่น ๓) เพื่อศึกษาผลของการใช้น้ำมูตรเน่าของชาวตำบลโนนทอง อำเภอแวงใหญ่ จังหวัดขอนแก่น
