โดยในปี58 นี้คาดว่าจะมีมูลค่าการใช้จ่าย 11,413 ล้านบาท โดยมีอัตราการขยายตัวเพิ่มขึ้นจากปีก่อน 2.5 % นับว่าสูงสุดตั้งแต่มีการสำรวจมาในปี49 ซึ่งถ้าหากเทียบกับเมื่อปี57 นั้นมีการขยายตัวที่ 11,134 ล้านบาท หรือ ขยายตัวร้อยละ 2.37 %

ทั้งนี้ เป็นเพราะราคาสินค้าที่แพงขึ้นรวมถึงได้รับอานิสงส์จากนโยบายกระตุ้นเศรษฐกิจของรัฐบาล และประชาชนมองว่าเศรษฐกิจได้ผ่านพ้นจุดต่ำสุดแล้ว จึงพร้อมเดินทางท่องเที่ยวใช้จ่ายเงินซื้อสินค้าและบริการตามสถานที่จัดงาน

สำหรับที่มาของเงินในการใช้จ่ายช่วงวันลอยกระทงนั้น ส่วนใหญ่ 74.1% มาจากเงินเดือนและรายได้ปกติ 17.4% มาจากส่วนเงินออมอีก 7.4% มาจากเงินจากรายได้พิเศษ/โบนัส ซึ่งถือว่าเป็นสัญญาณที่ดีของการฟื้นตัวของระบบเศรษฐกิจ ที่ประชาชนจะนำเงินเดือนและรายได้ปกติมาใช้จ่ายมากขึ้น
