โครงการพระราชดำริปางตอง 2 (ปางอุ๋ง) ได้เข้าดำเนินการกิจกรรมเกี่ยวกับการฟื้นฟูสภาพป่าและปรับปรุงระบบนิเวศ มาตั้งแต่ปี 2528 จนถึงปัจจุบัน ได้แก่ การปลูกป่าในรูปแบบต่าง ๆ ทั้งการปลูกป่าทั่วไป ปลูกไม้ใช้สอย ปลูกป่า 3 อย่าง ประโยชน์ 4 อย่าง ปลูกหวายตามแนวพระราชดำริ ปลูกป่าปรับปรุงระบบนิเวศ การปลูกป่าเปียก รวมเนื้อที่ 20,710 ไร่ การจัดทำแนวกันไฟ การจัดทำฝายต้นน้ำชะลอความชุ่มชื้น รวมถึงการส่งเสริมการจัดทำโครงการธนาคารอาหารชุมชนเพื่อเป็นการพัฒนาคุณภาพชีวิตของราษฎร
