ไม่ว่าจะเสด็จฯ ไปเยือนที่แห่งใดในโลกนี้ จึงทรงได้รับการต้อนรับอย่างอบอุ่นสมพระเกียรติโดยมีการบันทึกไว้อย่างเป็นทางการว่า ในช่วงระหว่างปี พ.ศ. ๒๕๐๑ ถึง พ.ศ. ๒๕๑๐ พระบาทสมเด็ จพระเจ้าอยู่หัวพระราชดำเนินเยือนต่างประเทศทั่วโลก ทั้งในทวีปเอเวีย ทวีปยุโรป ทวีปอเมริกาเหนือ ทวีปออสเตรเลีย จำนวนถึง ๒๗ ประเทศ เพื่อเป็นการเจริญพระราชไมตรีกับบรรดามิตรประเทศทั้งหลาย รวมถึ งได้ทรงนำความปรารถนาดีของชาวไทยไปมอบให้แก่ประชาชนในประเทศต่างๆ เหล่านั้นด้วย เป็นที่แน่นอนว่า การเสด็จพระราชดำเนินเยือนต่างประเทศตลอดระยะเวลาที่ผ่ านมา มิได้เป็นเพียงเหตุผลเดียวเท่านั้นที่ทำให้ทั่วโลกต่างยกย่องพระองค์ หากแต่พระราชกรณียกิจของพระองค์ในด้านต่างๆ ที่สร้างประโยชน์สุขแก่ประชาชนคนไทยก็ขจรขจายไปทั่วมุมโลกด้วย
