โครงงานวิจัยนี้มีจุดประสงค์เพื่อเพิ่มค่าประสิทธิผลโดยรวมของเครื่องจักรอุปกรณ์(OEE) โดยการปรับปรุงกระบวนการเคลือบสีกระจกเงา ของโรงงานตัวอย่าง ซึ่งปัญหาที่คณะผู้วิจัยได้พบคือ ในกระบวนการผลิตกระจกเงา คณะผู้วิจัยได้พบว่าปัญหาของเสียในกระบวนการเคลือบสีกระจกเงามีมากที่สุด ซึ่งเป็นส่วนที่ทำให้ค่าประสิทธิผลของเครื่องจักรอุปกรณ์ของโรงงานตัวอย่างไม่เป็นไปตามเป้าหมายที่วางไว้ จึงนำเทคนิคทางด้านวิศวกรรมอุตสาหการประกอบกับการศึกษางาน การเพิ่มค่าค่าประสิทธิผลโดยรวมของเครื่องจักรอุปกรณ์ การบำรุงรักษาทวีผลที่ทุกคนมีส่วนร่วม(TPM) โดยเน้น 2 เสาหลัก คือ การบำรุงรักษาตามแผน และการบำรุงรักษาด้วยตัวเอง ซึ่งเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของ TPM และการใช้เครื่องมือคุณภาพ(QC 7 Tools) เป็นต้น
