งานเทศกาลไหมเป็นงานที่จังหวัดขอนแก่นได้จัดขึ้นทุกปี. เริ่มตั้งแต่ พ.ศ. ๒๕๒๒ จนถึงปัจจุบันโดยจัดช่วงเดือนพฤศจิกายนถึงธันวาคม มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อส่งเสริมอาชีพการทอผ้าไหม ชมขบวนแห่พิธีเปิดงาน นิทรรศการผ้าไหมพื้นเมือง การจำหน่ายสินค้า OTOP การประกวดนางงามไหม นอกจากนี้ยังมีการแสดงเพื่อฟื้นฟูและส่งเสริมศิลปวัฒนธรรมท้องถิ่น
ประเพณีผูกเสี่ยว ก็เป็นประเพณีสำคัญที่จัดขึ้นพร้อมกันกับงานเทศกาลไหม โดยมีวัตถุประสงค์ เพื่อให้คนในท้องถิ่นและคนในชาติมีความรักใคร่กลมเกลียว สมัครสมานสามัคคีและช่วยเหลือเกื้อกูลกันคำว่า "เสี่ยว" เป็นภาษาถิ่นอีสาน แปลว่า มิตรแท้ เพื่อนแท้ เพื่อนตาย มีความผูกพัน ซื่อสัตย์ และจริงใจต่อกัน
