In the study of the Ministry of Education in Thailand during 2006 to 2012, results show that English is considered as the first world language since more than two billion people or one-third of the global population use English (Ministry of Education: 2015). Results from Education First, a company specializing in international studies for international students, measuring English proficiency and skills from non-English speaking people of working-class age from 63 countries in 2015 shows that the current ranking in Thailand is 48, which is categorized as ‘very low proficiency’ or very low English proficiency and skills. In comparison to other countries in Asia, Thailand’s ranking is 11 out of 14 countries. (Education First. 2015: online). From that information, it can be summarized that English proficiency and skills of working-class age Thai people are very low and needs to be improves as soon as possible. Therefore, the researcher is interested in investigating the significance of preparation and readiness towards successfully taking TOEIC exams, with the case study of 4th year Liberal Arts RMUTT students studying English as their major subject. The results of this study will provide a better understanding of the impact of preparation and readiness towards successfully taking TOEIC exams more efficiently and effectively, especially with the case of 4th year Liberal Arts RMUTT students studying English as their major subject
