หลายๆคนคงจะเคยได้ยินมานะคะว่าชาวอีสานมีวิธีการขอฝนอยู่ อย่างหนึ่งคือ ประเพณีการแห่นางแมว ซึ่งการแห่นางแมวเป็นพิธีอ้อนวอนขอฝน ซึ่งจำจัดทำขึ้นในปีใดที่ภาคอีสานในแต่ละท้องถิ่นแห่งแล้งฝนไม่ตกต้องตามฤดู กาล จนในปัจจุบันกลายเป็นประเพณีที่สืบทอดกันมาตราบจนทุกวันนี้ค่ะ
ความเชื่อ
พิธีแห่นางแมวของชาวอีสานเพราะเชื่อว่าเหตุที่ฝนไม่ตกมี เหตุผลหลายประการ เช่น เกิดจากดินฟ้าอากาศเปลี่ยนแปลง,ประชาชนชาวเมืองหย่อนในศีลธรรม ,เจ้าเมืองหรือเจ้าแผ่นดินไม่ทรงอยู่ในทศพิธราชธรรม, เป็นต้น เหตุนี้ชาวเมือง ชาวอีสานจึงต้องทำพิธีอ้อนวอนขอฝน และการที่ต้องใช้แมวเป็นตัวประกอบสำคัญในการขอฝน เพราะเชื่อว่าแมวเป็นสัตว์ที่เกลียดฝน ถ้าฝนตกครั้งใดแมวจะร้องทันที ชาวอีสานจึงถือเอาเคล็ดที่แมวร้องในเวลาฝนตกว่า จะเป็นเหตุให้ฝนตกจริงๆ ชาวบ้านจึงร่วมมือกันสาดน้ำและทำให้แมวร้องมากที่สุดจึงจะเป็นผลดี และชาวอีสานเชื่อว่าหลังจากทำพิธีแห่นางแมวแล้วฝนจะตกลงมาตามคำอ้อนวอน และตามคำเซิ้ง ของนางแมว
องค์ประกอบที่ใช้ในพิธีแห่นางแมว
