กระบวนการสอนโดยใช้รูปแบบวงจรการเรียนรู้ 7E เป็นรูปแบบการสอนที่ใช้วิธีการสืบเสาะหาความรู้ทางวิทยาศาสตร์ ที่มุ่งให้ผู้เรียนแสวงหาความรู้ด้วยตนเอง โดยใช้กระบวนการทางวิทยาศาสตร์ในการค้นพบความรู้ หรือประสบการณ์เรียนรู้ เพื่อให้ผู้เรียนได้ฝึกคิด ฝึกปฏิบัติ และแก้ปัญหาได้ด้วยตนเอง ซึ่งจะช่วยให้ผู้เรียนมีผลสัมฤทธิ์ทางการเรียนสูงขึ้น การศึกษาค้นคว้าครั้งนี้จึงมีความมุ่งหมายเพื่อพัฒนาแผนการจัดการเรียนรู้โดยใช้รูปแบบวงจรการเรียนรู้ 7E กลุ่มสาระการเรียนรู้วิทยาศาสตร์ เรื่อง พลังงานความร้อน ชั้นมัธยมศึกษาปีที่ 1 ที่มีประสิทธิภาพ 75/75 เพื่อหาดัชนีประสิทธิผลของแผนจัดการเรียนรู้โดยใช้รูปแบบวงจรการเรียนรู้ 7E กลุ่มสาระการเรียนรู้วิทยาศาสตร์ เรื่อง พลังงานความร้อนและเพื่อศึกษาความพึงพอใจของนักเรียนที่มีต่อการเรียนรู้โดยใช้รูปแบบวงจรการเรียนรู้ 7E กลุ่มตัวอย่างในการศึกษาค้นคว้าครั้งนี้ ได้แก่ นักเรียนชั้นมัธยมศึกษาปีที่ 1 โรงเรียนบ้านโพนจาน ตำบลโพนจาน อำเภอโพนสวรรค์ จังหวัดนครพนม ภาคเรียนที่ 2 ปีการศึกษา 2557 จำนวน 27 คน จาก 1 ห้องเรียน ซึ่งได้มาโดยการสุ่มแบบเจาะจง (Purposive Sampling)
