การศึกษาวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์

การศึกษาวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาทักษะภาษาอังกฤษของชาวบ้านชุมชนบ้านเดียม ตำบลเชียงแหวอำเภอกุมภวาปี จังหวัดอุดรธานี โดยมีกลุ่มตัวอย่างจำนวน 3 กลุ่มได้แก่ 1) นักเรียนชั้นประถมศึกษาตอนปลาย โรงเรียนบ้านเดียม 2) กลุ่มแม่บ้านโฮมสเตย์บ้านเดียม และ3) กลุ่มคนขับเรือนำเที่ยว เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการเก็บข้อมูลได้แก่ แบบสัมภาณ์และแบบสอบถาม ผลการวิจัยสามารถสรุปได้ดังต่อไปนี้ กลุ่มนักเรียนชั้นประถมศึกษาตอนปลายการไม่ได้ต้อนรับนักท่องเที่ยวชาวต่างชาติบ่อยนัก ส่งผลให้การสนทนาเกิดความไม่มั้นใจ รู้คำศัพท์น้อย และนักเรียนทุกคนต้องการเรียนรู้ภาษาอังกฤษเพิ่มเติมมากขึ้น ด้านกลุ่มแม่บ้านโฮมสเตย์บ้านเดียมและกลุ่มคนขับเรือนำเที่ยวสามารถสื่อสารเป็นคำๆ ไม่สามารถสนทนาเป็นประโยค ปัญหาที่พบในการนำเที่ยวคือการใช้ภาษาอังกฤษในการบรรยายสถานที่ เนื่องจากคนขับเรือบางคนไม่สามารถสื่อสารภาษาอังกฤษได้ คนที่พูดได้จะสื่อสารได้แค่ระดับคำหรือประโยคสั้นๆ กลุ่มคนขับเรือจึงต้องการพัฒนาทักษะภาษาอังกฤษในการท่องเที่ยวให้มากขึ้น
