Royal Agricultural Station Angkhang.
While visiting hilltribes at Pak Pai village A.Fang, Chiangmai Province , His Majesty the King accompanied by the Queen had found from people in the area that Doi Angkhang had cold climate and the majority of hilltribes grew opium poppy but still poor moreover; they did slash and burn and shifting cultivation which would bring disaster to the country in the future.
As The King has known that hilltribes had an income from growing opium the same with they had grew peaches also Kasetsart University has done the research about temperate fruits therefore; His Majesty The King gave his private fund 1,500 baht for buying a piece of land at Doi Angkhang. After that The King had command to established The Royal Project Foundation in 1969 by under the directorship of H.S.H. Bhisatej Rajani as the chairman of Royal Project which mainly working on research about temperate fruits, flowers and vegetables to be the sample for the agriculturists to do for their living. Later H.M. naming it “Royal Agricultural Station Angkhang”.
