ประวัติความเป็นมา วัดม่วง

เดิมทีวัดม่วงเป็นวัดร้าง สันนิษฐานว่าสร้างในสมัยกรุงศรีอยุธยาตอนปลาย ปี พ.ศ. ๒๒๓๐ ณ. แขวงเมืองวิเศษชาญ ซึ่งเคยได้เป็นเมืองหน้าด่าน ที่มีความเจริญรุ่งเรืองมาก ต่อมาในปี พ.ศ. ๒๓๑๐ กรุงศรีอยุธยาได้เสียกรุงให้แก่พม่า พม่าได้เผาผลาญบ้านเมือง วัดวาอาราม และพระพุทธรูปไปเป็นจำนวนมาก สิ่งที่หลงเหลืออยู่ คือ ซากปรักหักพังของวัดวาอาราม และพระพุทธรูป ที่อยู่บนเนินมีต้นไม้ใหญ่จำนวนมาก

เมื่อวันที่ ๘ ธันวาคม พ.ศ. ๒๕๒๕ ท่านพระคูวิบูลอาจารคุณ ( หลวงพ่อเกษม อาจารสุโภ ) ได้มาปักกลดธุงดงค์เห็นว่าบริเวณนี้เคยเป็นวัดร้าง จึงน่าปฏิบัติธรรม แต่ขณะปฏิบัติธรรม ได้ปรากฏนิมิต เห็นองค์หลวงปู่ขาว และหลวงปู่แดง มาบอกว่าให้ท่านได้ช่วยก่อสร้างวัดม่วงขึ้นมาใหม่ เพราะท่านพระครู เป็นผู้มีบารมี ที่สามารถจะก่อสร้างบูรณะวัดม่วง ขึ้นมาใหม่ได้ด้วย ผู้ที่เคยอาศัยในสมัยก่อนได้มาเกิด และจะมาช่วยท่านแล้ว และในบริเวณวัดร้างนี้จะมีศิลาขาว และศิลาแดงอยู่ คือ องค์ของหลวงปู่ขาว และหลวงปู่แดง นั้นเอง ซึ่งต่อมาท่านพระครูวิบูลอาจารคุณ ได้มีการปั้นองค์พระครอบศิลาขาว และศิลาแดงไว้ โดยเรียกนามว่า หลวงปู่ขาว และหลวงปู่แดง จนถึงปัจจุบันนี้

ในปีพ.ศ. ๒๕๒๖ ท่านพระครูวิบูลอาจารคุณ ได้มีการเริ่มบูรณะและได้สร้างเสนาสนะต่าง ๆ ขึ้น โดยได้รับการบริจาค ทั้งเงินทำบุญ และทำบุญด้วยแรงงาน ร่วมกันดำเนินงานในการก่อสร้าง

จนกระทั้งวันที่ ๖ สิงหาคม พ.ศ. ๒๕๒๗ กระทรวงศึกษาธิการ จึงได้มีการประกาศยกฐานะให้วัดม่วง ซึ่งเคยเป็นวัดร้างให้เป็นวัดที่มีพระสงฆ์

เมื่อวันที่ ๒๔ ตุลาคม พ.ศ. ๒๕๒๗ ได้มีการแต่งตั้งท่านพระครูวิบูลอาจารคุณเป็นเจ้าอาวาสวัดม่วง ต.หัวตะพาน อ.วิเศษชัยชาญ จ. อ่างทอง

เมื่อวันที่ ๑๒ กันยายน พ.ศ.๒๕๒๙ พระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัวภูมิพลอดุลยเดช รัชกาลที่ ๙ แห่งราชจักรี ได้ทรงพระราชทานวิสุงคามสีมาให้แก่วัดม่วง เป็นต้นมา

ในปีพ.ศ. ๒๕๓๔ ท่านพระวิบูลอาจารคุณ ได้ร่วมพลังจิตอธิฐาน ร่วมกับประชาชนผู้มีจิตศรัทธาทั่วประเทศ ได้สมทบทุนสร้างพระพุทธรูปที่ใหญ่ที่สุดในโลก เพื่อน้อมถวาย แด่พระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัว ภูมิพลอดุลยเดชรัชกาลที่ ๙ และราชวงศ์จักรี มีพระนามว่า พระพุทธมหานมินทร์ศากยมุนีศรีวิเศษชัยชาญ มีหน้าตักกว้าง ๖๒ ม. สูง ๙๓ ม. มูลค่าในการก่อสร้าง ๑๐๖,๐๐๐,๐๐๐ บาท ( หนึ่งร้อยหกล้านบาท )

เมื่อวันเสาร์ที่ ๙ มีนาคม พ.ศ. ๒๕๓๔ ( วันแรม ๑ ค่ำา เดือน ๔ ) ปีมะเมีย เวลา ๙.๐๐ น. ได้วางศิลาฤกษ์ โดยสมเด็จพระโฆษาจารย์ วัดสุวรรณดาราม กทม. เป็นประธานฝ่ายสงฆ์ และพระครูวิบูลอาจารคุณ (หลวงพ่อเกษม อาจารสุโภ ) เป็นประธานฝ่ายดำเนินการก่อสร้าง และหาทุน และให้กฤษ์การก่อสร้างได้ดำเนินมา จนสำเร็จใน ๒๗ กรกฎาคม พ.ศ. ๒๕๕๐ ( วันขึ้น ๑๓ ค่ำ เดือน ๘ ) รวมเป็นเวลาในการก่อสร้างทั้งสิ้น ๑๖ ปี นับตั้งแต่ปี พ.ศ. ๒๕๓๕ – ๒๕๕๐
