องค์ประกอบของไตรลักษณ์
๑. อนิจจตา ความเป็นอนิจจัง คือความไม่เที่ยง ความเปลี่ยนแปลง ลักษณะของอนิจจตาหรือที่เรียกว่า "อนิจจลักษณะ" ก็คือ การเกิดขึ้น , การเปลี่ยนแปลงขณะตั้งอยู่ , และการดับไปของสิ่งทั้งหลาย

๒. ทุกขตา ความเป็นทุกข์หรือความทุกข์ คือสิ่งที่ทนได้ยาก และอาการที่ทนอยู่ในสภาวะเดิมไม่ได้ จำแนกความทุกข์ออกเป็น ๓ ประเภทดังนี้
(๑) ทุกขทุกขตา หรือ ทุกขทุกข์ หมายถึง ทุกข์คือความรู้สึกทุกข์ซึ่งเป็นเวทนา
(๒) สังขารทุกขตา หรือ สังขารทุกข์ ทุกข์ตามสภาพสังขารหรือทุกข์คือสังขาร หมายถึงทุกข์ของสังขารทั้งปวง
(๓) วิปริณามทุกขตา หมายถึงความรู้สึกสุขหรือสุขเวทนาที่เป็นความทุกข์หรือมีทุกข์แฝงอยู่ด้วยตลอดเวลา

๓. อนัตตา ความเป็นอนัตตา คือความไม่ใช่และไม่มีสิ่งที่เรียกว่า "อัตตา" รวมทั้งลักษณะของความไม่เป็นไปในอำนาจบังคับบัญชา ความเป็นอนัตตามีความหมายหลัก ๒ อย่างคือ
(๑) ความเป็นอนัตตาหมายถึงความไม่มีสิ่งที่เรียกว่า "อัตตา"
(๒) ความเป็นอนัตตาหมายถึงลักษณะที่ไม่เป็นไปในอำนาจบังคับบัญชา
