เที่ยวอัมพวา ชมวิหารปรกโพธิ์ วัดบางกุ้ง ค่ายบางกุ้ง จ.สมุทรสงคราม
วัดบางกุ้ง เป็นวัดเก่าแก่ตั้งอยู่ในเขตตำบลบางกุ้ง อำเภอบางคนที จังหวัดสมุทรสงคราม ตามประวัติกล่าวว่าสร้างขึ้นตั้งแต่สมัยกรุงศรีอยุธยาเป็นวัดสำคัญวัดหนึ่งทางประวัติศาสตร์ เนื่องจากในสมัยกรุงศรีอยุธยาตอนปลาย ปีพ.ศ. ๒๓๐๘ กองทัพพม่ายกเข้ามาตีกรุงศรีอยุธยา สมเด็จพระเจ้าเอกทัศน์จึงทรงมีพระราชดำรัสสั่งให้หัวเมืองปากใต้ยกกองทัพเรือมาตั้งค่ายสร้างกำแพงล้อมวัดบางกุ้งที่ตำบลบางกุ้ง เมืองสมุทรสงคราม เรียกว่า “ค่ายบางกุ้ง” กองทัพพม่าซึ่งยกทัพเข้ามาตามลำน้ำแม่กลองและบุกลงมาจนถึงค่ายบางกุ้ง โดยที่กองทัพของกรุงศรีอยุธยาไม่สามารถต้านทานไว้ได้ค่ายบางกุ้งจึงแตก หลังจากพม่าตีกรุงศรีอยุธยาแตกในปี พ.ศ. ๒๓๑๐ ค่ายบางกุ้งก็ตกอยู่ในสภาพค่ายร้าง

ภายในพระอุโบสถประดิษฐานพระพุทธรูปขนาดใหญ่สมัยอยุธยาตอนปลาย สลักจากหินทรายแดง แสดงปางมารวิชัย ชาวบ้านเรียกว่า “หลวงพ่อโบสถ์น้อย” ที่ฝาผนังของพระอุโบสถมีภาพจิตรกรรมฝาผนังรูปพระอดีตพุทธเจ้า และภาพพุทธประวัติ นอกจากนี้ยังมีสระน้ำโบราณรูปสี่เหลี่ยมผืนผ้าขนาดความกว้างประมาณ ๕ เมตร ความยาว ๗ เมตร ที่ขอบสระมีกำแพงเตี้ยกั้น และกรุด้วยอิฐถือปูนลักษณะสอบลงไป ตั้งอยู่ทางด้านทิศเหนือของพระอุโบสถ กรมศิลปากรได้ประกาศขึ้นทะเบียนวัดบางกุ้งเป็นโบราณสถานของชาติในราชกิจจานุเบกษา เล่ม ๑๑๓ ตอนพิเศษ ๕๐ เมื่อวันที่ ๑๘ ธันวาคม พ.ศ. ๒๕๓๙
 


ที่วัดบางกุ้งนี้เองมีศาลอยู่ทางด้านหลัง โดยมีชื่อว่า "ศาลนางไม้เจ้าจอม" หรือศาลขององค์หญิงมณฑาทิพยื (จันทร์เจ้า) ซึ่งมีความศักดิ์สิทธิ์ มีคนให้ความเคารพนับถือกันมาก
 


ศาลมีประวัติความเป็นมาดังนี้
