Significance of the Study
Though numerous research studies have
assessed and defined the effectiveness and
efficiencies of online leaming, in general,
and online training, in particular, on
organizations' efficacy, productivity, intellectual
capital, and success globally.
However, through the course of searching,
retrieving, and reviewing hterature for this
study, the researcher found no evidence of
such studies—focusing essentially on the
impact of online training—in the Arab Gulf
Cooperation Council (AGCC). And,
because the State of Kuwait is undertaking
an extensive reform and development
plan on a nationwide toward becoming an
intemationally recognized financial and
economic center in the region. Therefore,
the Government is embracing and supporting
many initiatives/programs toward
accomplishing such vision in various organizations
in the country covering both the
public and private sectors. One such initiative
entails the integration of ICT in
Kuwaiti organizations in order to flourish
the path in becoming an e-govemment. As
part of this ICT initiative, the Kuwaiti govemment
is endorsing and sustaining the
deployment of e-leaming systems in its
organizations, in general, and online training
particularly, since the beginning of the
twenty-first century. KU started officially
its e-training system from the beginning
of 2003-2004 academic year.
