วันที่ 8 ก.ย.58 นายนิพนธ์ วิชัยรัตน์ รักษาการผู้อำนวยการสวนสัตว์เชียงใหม่ รับแจ้งว่าได้มีชาวบ้านบ้านร้อง หมู่ 2 ต.แม่เจดีย์ใหม่ อ.เวียงป่าเป้า จ.เชียงราย พบเก้งเพศเมียอายุประมาณ 4 ปี ท้องใกล้ออกลูก หนีตายออกจากป่าวิ่งเข้ามาในหมู่บ้านบ้านร้อง โดยถูกสุนัขตามกัด ได้รับบาดเจ็บสาหัส ในขณะนี้อยู่ที่บ้านนายพรชิต จอมยอดแก้ว อายุ 46 ปี ขอให้ไปช่วยเหลือ จึงพร้อมกับทีมสัตวแพทย์สวนสัตว์เชียงใหม่ เดินทางมาช่วยรักษาพยาบาล
